In traditional safari-camp style, Serian – The Original boasts a communal area with a thatched main building, open-air dining area, and a cozy lounge adorned with cream-colored sofas, dark wood furniture, and a romantic wood-burning fire. With a capacity of just twelve guests, the camp maintains an atmosphere of intimacy and tranquility. Serian The original camp’s cuisine is a highlight, featuring fresh vegetables, salads, and fruits from its own garden. The owner keeps beehives in the garden to deter elephants. Breakfasts include homemade toasted muesli and mango slices, while lunches feature dishes like fish cakes or Thai vegetable cakes with fresh green salads and freshly baked bread adorned with edible flowers. Evenings offer elegant three-course meals by the fireside.

The camp features six spacious, marquee-style tents with bathrooms equipped with large stone baths, twin sinks, flushing toilets, and powerful showers overlooking the lush Mara River valley. Outfitted with four-poster beds, wrought iron lampstands, Persian rugs, and dark wood furniture, the tents and treehouse are tastefully decorated in soothing neutral tones. Wooden front terraces with daybeds and floor cushions offer views of a hippo-filled river. Nearby, ‘The Nest,’ a treehouse, is available for overnight stays or afternoon picnics. Serian – The Original also offers a larger family tent with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an adjoining deck.
