Overview of Saruni Eagle View Camp

Saruni Eagle View at Mara Naboisho Conservancy

Relax and unwind at this serene camp, perched on a natural hilltop with direct views of a tranquil watering hole and sweeping vistas across the lush landscape. The camp’s minimal impact on the environment makes it feel as though it was naturally meant to be here, as if the location itself chose the tents. Each of the nine traditional canvas tents is equipped with an ensuite bathroom and can be set up with either a double bed or two single beds, depending on your preference.

As you wake up in the morning, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views, and you can step out onto your private terrace to enjoy a drink before breakfast— or even have breakfast there if you like. The tents are simply furnished, with no excess decoration, allowing the stunning natural surroundings to take center stage. To enhance your experience, an outdoor shower on your private deck allows you to enjoy the beautiful scenery even while freshening up.

The communal spaces include a raised dining deck with both indoor and outdoor seating, offering fantastic views while you indulge in delicious, freshly prepared meals. A spacious viewing deck with a fire-pit is a popular spot in the evenings, where guests can share stories from their day and witness nature’s incredible spectacles.

This outdoor, laid-back atmosphere is what sets Eagle View apart from more polished hotel experiences— here, you’ll find authentic outdoor living, with all the modern comforts you might need. For instance, if you need internet access during your stay, Wi-Fi and a computer station are available at the reception area.

True to its spirit of wilderness, the camp is unfenced, so it’s recommended for guests aged 7 and older. Safari walks are open to those 15 and up. While there isn’t a family suite with adjoining tents, the camp does offer a Dorobo club with activities for children, including learning to use bows and arrows. Eagle View’s pricing makes it especially popular with solo travelers, and the communal spaces provide a perfect balance between social interaction and privacy.

Things to Do at Saruni Basecamp Eagle View

At Basecamp Eagle View, the flat terrain of the Naboisho Conservancy offers breathtaking views right from your camp, creating an ideal setting for both safari drives and walking tours. The open landscape makes it easier for you to spot wildlife and approach them, enhancing your safari experience.

A must-do during your stay is a four-wheel-drive safari, where your knowledgeable guide will lead you to prime locations to encounter Africa’s Big Five and other fascinating animals. You’ll likely see awe-inspiring elephants, giraffes, and lions, while the elusive spotted hyenas add an exciting, if somewhat chilling, element to your adventure. After your thrilling excursions, a night drive will offer a fresh perspective of the reserve, concluding with a delicious dinner back at camp.

For a more intimate experience, consider joining a walking safari, where you’ll get closer to nature and truly grasp the vastness of the reserve. As you follow animal tracks and observe wildlife from a safe distance, an expert local guide will deepen your understanding of the animals and their environment. If you’re visiting between January and February, you’re in for a special treat—this is when many antelope and wildebeest give birth, making it an unforgettable sight.

The camp’s legacy as a guiding school means it maintains strong ties with the local Maasai community, as well as community organizations like a women’s arts center. You can take part in organized tours that immerse you in Maasai culture, offering a meaningful and enriching addition to your trip.

Tripadvisor Feedback of Saruni Basecamp Eagle View

I can’t even describe how incredible this place is. I would recommend it 1000x, I cannot wait to come back here one day. The lodges are very comfortable, well equipped and beautiful. The views are breathtaking both from the lobby and from our balcony. I was heartbroken to leave such a beautiful place.

All the staff make you feel like you are part of their family, they are incredibly welcoming and caring. I want to thank Stanley, Felista, Sami and Damaris our wonderful guide and all the other staff members, who made this trip so special.

Every meal was delicious without exceptions.

And finally, the reason why we were here: the game drives. The whole safari experience was unbelievable. We saw so many animals everywhere: elephants, giraffes, gazelles, impalas, wildebeest, lions, hyena..to just name a few. Our guide was very knowledgable.
