Without fences or borders, it is situated in the heart of the wilderness, allowing guests to feel immersed in the surrounding landscape. Nestled in the bush and harmonizing with the natural surroundings, the Offbeat mara camp in Mara is barely noticeable to passersby. Its discreet decor and unfenced boundaries often attract a local lion pride, heard before they are seen, as they roar mightily while passing by.
Managed by staff who live in the same local community of Maasai villages, Offbeat Mara Camp is committed to supporting the local area by providing employment opportunities and preserving the natural landscape of the reserve. Offbeat Mara Camp is home to just seven safari tents, discreetly placed in various corners of the bush, hidden from the outside world. While five of the seven tents are standard-sized to accommodate pairs and couples, two tents cater to families, offering two separate bedrooms with a connecting dressing area. All seven family tents also feature a private veranda with directors’ chairs and sun loungers, where guests can enjoy stunning views across the Mara North Conservancy as animals wander past in close proximity. Constructed with cream canvas, each tent is bright and adorned with earth-toned rugs and furniture that complete the traditional safari aesthetic. With handmade cedarwood beds and colorful throws, Offbeat Mara is comfortable, clean, and cozy. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a flush toilet and bucket shower.
Recently rebuilt, Offbeat Mara’s main communal area is elevated with a wooden deck, solid walls, and a canvas roof where guests can relax on sofas and armchairs around a fireplace. Guests are also welcome to explore the bar and shop, where local crafts are sold, with all profits donated to the local community. At the center of offbeat mara, is a large dining area overlooking the river.
Internet access and laundry services are complimentary, along with all meals and drinks (excluding some premium alcoholic beverages). Babysitting and room services are available on request for family rooms for an additional fee.

Driven by an expert guide through the open plains, sightings of Africa’s Big 5 are a common occurrence on game drives for Offbeat Mara guests.
Game drives are complimentary and occur twice daily – once during the daytime and once at night. Those staying at Offbeat Mara from mid-July to mid-October can also enjoy a drive into the proper, where they’re likely to witness the famous wildebeest and zebra migration, where animals flock across the landscape in huge numbers, creating a magnificent sight.
