Overview of Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp

Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp Stunning View

There is a unique charm in feeling utterly isolated in the wilderness. Far removed from urban chaos, you tread the paths of past explorers. Away from traffic, concrete, and crowded skylines, you find yourself closer to nature. Elephant Pepper Camp is enveloped by tranquility and stunning panoramic vistas. Situated in the private Mara North Conservancy, the elephant top camp is among the select few permitted to operate here. With a limited number of guests allowed in the conservancy at any time, the area exudes a remote and unexplored atmosphere. Although luxurious, the elephant pepper camp harmonizes with its environment, allowing you to easily enjoy the local prides of lions and other wildlife.

The camp is designed with two wings flanking the stylish central lounge and dining area. The entire camp spans four square kilometers. With its non-permanent construction and absence of cement, the camp minimally impacts its natural surroundings. All energy is sourced from solar power. Elephant Pepper Camp serves Italian-inspired cuisine, alongside international and local dishes, in the central dining area—perfect for exchanging safari tales with fellow guests. If preferred, the kitchen team can arrange a private or romantic dining experience. Evenings feature canapés and delightful drinks by the fireside. The camp’s staff is welcoming and dedicated to making your stay enjoyable and your trip memorable. Note that the elephant and camp is closed from April 1 to June 15.

Elephant and Pepper camp‘s safari tents are both spacious and luxurious. Each tent offers views of the stunning African savannah, complete with private verandas and hammocks for relaxation. The tents feature en-suite bathrooms with hot and cold running water and flushing toilets. Elegantly decorated with dark wood finishes and vintage brass fittings, they offer comfort and style. For honeymoons or family trips, the camp provides two larger, more private tents. The remote location of elephant pepper camp offers unobstructed stargazing under the vast African night sky. As you settle into bed, the sounds of lions, hyenas, and leopards lull you to sleep. Mornings bring a warm cup of coffee or tea and a freshly-baked biscuit. Alternatively, enjoy al fresco dining on the plains among the local wildlife. This is all part of the grand adventure awaiting you at Elephant Pepper Camp, sister for Sand River Camp.

Things to Do at Elewana Elephant Pepper Camp

The camp offers a variety of engaging activities for its guests. Naturally, the camp provides exceptional game drives and bush walks, guided by highly skilled Maasai trackers and guides with top-notch qualifications and certifications. All game drives take place within the wildlife-rich private Mara North Conservancy, using 4×4 Toyota Landcruisers. These open-sided safari vehicles feature three rows of seats, stands for photographic equipment, and charging sockets. Game and walking drives are typically shared with other guests, but you can opt for an exclusive safari game drive for an additional fee. The area teems with resident big cats, prides of lions, and other wildlife. It’s also a prime location to witness the great wildebeest migration from July to October. The safari camp also offers hot-air balloon safaris at an extra cost.

A significant advantage of staying in the conservancy is the opportunity to embark on bush walks and evening game drives. Pre-dinner game drives, using red-light spotlights, reveal a different array of wildlife, including unique predators and creatures like the aardvark. Guided bush walks provide an intimate view of the environment, showcasing animal tracks, micro-ecosystems, and smaller flora and fauna. Patrick, the camp manager and an expert safari walking guide, along with his Maasai colleagues, will lead you through the area, highlighting fascinating points of interest. These activities are not permitted in the actual Masai Mara National Reserve. Game drives and bush walks at pepper camp are enhanced with optional bush breakfasts and scenic sundowners. During a sundowner, your guide will set up a delightful table with snacks and your favorite drinks in a picturesque spot. Another memorable activity offered by the camp is visiting a Maasai manyatta (village) for an introduction to Maasai culture and traditions.
