Gourmet Delights, Breathtaking Safaris, and Luxurious Comforts
The name of this safari camp truly encapsulates its essence. Mahali Mzuri, meaning ‘beautiful place’ in Swahili, couldn’t be more fitting. Nestled on the northern fringe of Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve, this camp is one of only five permitted to operate in the private Olare Motorogi Conservancy. The conservancy teems with wildlife, from elephants and wildebeests to lions, zebras, and leopards. The area is alive with activity, and the safari camp’s skilled Maasai guides and trackers are adept at locating even the most elusive creatures. The stunning scenery enhances the romantic ‘Out of Africa’ ambiance that most guests experience during their stay. Plus, you won’t need to venture far to begin spotting wildlife. The adventure starts right at the camp’s doorstep.
Wildlife is abundant around the camp. You might even witness a territorial showdown as several lion prides inhabit the conservancy, occasionally clashing for dominance. Approximately 150,000 wildebeest reside in this region, content to remain here rather than join the epic ‘Great Migration’ that annually spans 1,600 kilometers through Tanzania and Kenya. During the Great Migration, up to a million wildebeest, accompanied by thousands of zebras, gazelles, elands, and topis, traverse the landscape. Predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas capitalize on this grand procession, appearing in large numbers during the migration. The Great Migration reaches the conservancy between July and September, departing around November to return to the Serengeti in Tanzania. You can witness these animals passing here.
Mahali Mzuri offers unparalleled comfort and luxury to its guests. The camp boasts twelve luxury safari tents and a warm, inviting main tent at its heart. The main tent features a relaxed lounge area with an open fireplace, a library stocked with books, iPads for guest use, an iPod docking station with speakers, a game console, and a television. Binoculars are available for complimentary use, though bringing your own is advisable. The main tent’s spacious deck hosts breakfast and lunch at a communal table seating up to 24 guests. A standout feature is the camp’s opulent 12-meter infinity-edge swimming pool, which can be heated when temperatures drop. The Nasaro Spa at Mahali Mzuri is another highlight, offering guests breathtaking views of the bush during soothing massages.
Perched on a ridge above the river, each of the safari camp’s twelve tented suites is beautifully appointed and fully equipped for comfort. Six tents are positioned on each side of the main tent in the common area, with the farthest guest tent a five-minute walk from the main tent. The view from each guest tent is breathtaking and will keep you gazing at the horizon. The tents are decorated with safari nostalgia, featuring heavy leather couches, dark-wood furnishings, and vibrant accents. Of the twelve tents, ten comfortably accommodate two adults (with a four-poster king-sized bed or two twin beds), while two larger tents can accommodate two additional guests aged fifteen or younger. Mahali Mzuri can host up to 24 guests at any given time. Inside each tent, guests will find creature comforts such as an en-suite bathroom, a private deck, and amenities like a Bose iPod dock, a Nespresso machine, complimentary bottled water, a minibar, and Africology bath products.
There are two family safari tents equipped with a sofa bed for children. The camp also offers special meals for children and activities tailored to young explorers. Kids can participate in beading lessons with local Maasai women or beginner’s archery classes. Upon arrival, children receive a ‘bushbaby bag’ filled with coloring books, nature-trail games, and a cap. Families of four or more are provided with a private safari vehicle for safari game drives. Children eight years and older are welcome at Mahali Mzuri.

After a day of safari exploration, consider trying the signature Kenyan Dawa cocktail, a delightful blend of vodka, lime juice, and honey, aptly named after the Swahili word for ‘medicine.’
