Spacious, Maasai Mara Lovely Camp
For an authentic and exclusive Kenyan safari experience, Porini Cheetah Camp offers a perfect blend of comfort, simplicity, and wildlife immersion. Nestled in the pristine Ol Kinyei Conservancy, known for its exceptional big cat sightings, this small, intimate camp promises an unforgettable experience. With an emphasis on wildlife, you’ll embark on early morning, afternoon, and evening game drives across this private conservancy.
The camp’s location near a permanent water source attracts a wide range of big cats, particularly cheetahs, making it an ideal spot for thrilling wildlife encounters. Operating year-round, Porini Cheetah Camp is also ideally situated for witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration between July and November, adding even more excitement to the already abundant wildlife, including giraffes, lions, serval, topis, and waterbucks.
The camp prides itself on offering a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere where you can feel truly connected to nature while enjoying a comfortable stay. The welcoming Maasai staff will ensure you feel right at home, offering exceptional service that goes above and beyond. Highly trained guides lead game drives that maximize your chances of spotting local wildlife. With just six spacious tents, the camp maintains an intimate vibe, allowing you to enjoy both privacy and the serenity of being in the heart of the wilderness. Each tent is thoughtfully spaced beneath acacia trees, adding to the peaceful, secluded feeling.
The camp’s main common area, where dining and relaxation take place, is designed to capture the essence of safari living. The open-sided tents allow for a cooling breeze, while tables and chairs are set up outside, shaded by the trees, for meals al fresco when the weather is right. All meals and most drinks—including bottled water, tea, coffee, soft drinks, house wines, local beers, and gin and tonics—are included during your stay. Enjoy dining in the main tent or outdoors by candlelight, with the camp’s open-air fireplace providing a cozy ambiance.
The chefs prepare fresh, locally sourced dishes, including freshly baked bread. Should you prefer vegetarian meals, just let the camp know when booking, and they will gladly accommodate your request. You can even enjoy meals in the bush, such as a charming bush breakfast, or head to the nearby White Rock for a sundowner, where you can sip your favorite drink while admiring the breathtaking views.
Each classic safari-style tent is a retreat in itself, offering an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold running water, a hot-bucket shower, a flushing toilet, and a sink. The interiors combine the rugged charm of canvas and timber with a touch of comfort. Local materials, colorful fabrics, and cozy furnishings, such as a double bed with soft blankets, bedside tables with LED lamps, and a writing desk with a lamp, create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
There’s also a wardrobe, a luggage rack, and plug-in points for charging devices. If extra space is needed, a bed can be added for a child or additional adult. Each tent features a private patio with chairs, a table, and a fan, offering peaceful views of the surrounding forest. You may even catch a glimpse of grazing zebras or wildebeests in the distance. To keep you warm on cooler evenings, a hot water bottle will be placed on your bed, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.

This was an experience to remember for a lifetime. A nice smallish camp, with six tents, run by Jui and Nirmalya. They, alongwith manager John, go out of their way to make your stay a memorable experience. Spacious ensuite tents, great food and a great staff. Chatting with Jui and Nirmalya during meal times was the cherry on top. Very knowledgeable and hospitable couple. Highly recomended.
